HARBIN FRP INSTITUTE

     Harbin Fiber Reinforced Plastics Institute is a subsidiary of the State Administration of Building Materials Industry. It was established in June 1960. The Institute is the earliest specialized research nstitute engaging in research and application of polymer matrix composites in China .Its undertaking is to work on key high technology programs sanctioned by the State government and to research vital equipment and engineering related to the composites industry. In China,is enjoys a commanding lead in processes such as filament winding ,pultrusion,hot - melting prepreg and research in advanced composites and high performance thermoplastics composites. Since its establishment,the Institute has been awarded 47 State and Ministerial level awards,including First Prize for National Industrial New Products in 1964.
     The Institutue has many qualified senior technicians and various specialities:raw materials ,processing,structural design,testing,standardization,mass production technology,design and manufacture of process equipment,and automation process control and engineering .In all the Institute has 9 departments including two which are dedicated to automation and process equipment.The Institute is the only entity in the manufacture of composite process equipment.In addition,the Institute is well equipped for processing,testing and analysis.It has a large filament winder, a PT - 240 pultrusion machine,an AD - 12 hot - melting prepregnator as well as other advanced equipment for testing and analysis,all imported from Europe,america and Jaan.
     The Institute supplies advanced FRP products to the domestic and foreign market,enjoying a high reputation.The sPTM - 14 and EPKM - 17 are two types of FRPperigee solid rocket motor cases manufactured or the Long March ll rocker which have entered into the international satellite - launching market.Other products produced by the institute including FRP pressure vessel for reverse osmosis membrane and ultra pure water storage tanks, end cones ,inner and outer cylinders and beam tubes for particle colliders ,pultruded products,x - ray couch,textile machinery parts,and carbon fiber parts and the hot - melting prepreg materials, to mention a few,have entered into the every field of nmational economy.It is presently trial - producing GMT sheet equipment.
     The State Engineering Research Center of Polymer Matrix composites is sanctioned along with the Institute,by the National Science and Technology Commission,to transfer scientific research achivevments into production and ,in so doing,promote the utilization of composite materials and FRP products throughout china.
     Fiber Composites is a periodical jointly edited by Harbin FRP Institute and the State Engineering Research Center of Polymer Matrix Composites.
